COMPREHENSIVE SHOTGUN

In this 2 day course, we will cover BOTH the defensive/tactical as well as competition employment of the shotgun. You will leave a well rounded shotgun operator.

This course will be co-taught by Ken Stretz of Stretz Tactical & competitive shooter Sean Burrows (Elevated training). As we progress through the class we will explore most blocks of instruction in two phases. 1) Tactical/defensive. 2) Competition. For example, the way you reload your shotgun in a match and the equipment you use to reload it, may not transfer well to a defensive/tactical application and vise versa. So both ways will be demonstrated by instructors and performed by the students.

Topics covered will include:

Shotgun selection and set up

Competition Belt set up
Administrative loading/unloading
Zeroing your shotgun
Stance, mounting & presenting the shotgun
Recoil management
Combat, tactical & competition reloads
Clearing malfunctions
Patterning your buckshot
Select slug drills
Transition to pistol
Target to target transitions (engaging multiple targets)
Cleaning your shotgun & why you MUST
Shooting on the move
Barricades
Prone and other alternate shooting positions
Pivots & turns

“Defensive/combat mindset” & “Competition mindset”
